In 1987, The L.A.SAX COMPANY brand of innovative saxophones was introduced to the world market
from Barrington, Illinois by its founder, Mr. Peter LaPlaca. Within a few years, L.A. SAX became the new leader of saxophone design,
finish and performance. Many prominent saxophone artists joined the L.A. SAX cadre of endorsers as passionate and
dedicated disciples of this great new product line.
The company changed ownership in the early 2000's but never again regained its high profile/respected image in the marketplace.
The original artist family of players gradually faded as product innovation/design failed to keep up with the ever changing demands of the marketplace.
In 2005, Mr. LaPlaca embarked on a new mission seeking to create a new line of "avant gard" saxophones appealing to professional and aspiring players
anxious for the return to the 90's when he led the industry in saxophone innovation.
Now, in 2007, the market can again look to his most recent creation...NEWPORTE JAZZE SERIES SAXOPHONES destined for great success.
